Wilson Pro Tour BLX
by Wilson on Jun.26, 2011, under Intermediate, Wilson BLX

Hey, When testing this racket you’ll have to take into consideration, that this one is a pure pro racket! As said earlier, Juan Martin Del Potro 2009 Us Open champion from Argentina and Micheal Llodra plays this BLX racket. If you are Del Potro type of player this one will be an amazing choice for you! I don’t have to tell you that Del Potro is a baseline basher, powerful strokes is what you’ll get from the Wilson Tour Pro BLX.
This racket is one of the heaviest rackets Wilson can offer in her pro racket line. About 11.3 oz unstrung is quite a lot! This heavy weigh racket will generate some extreme power in your strokes, so if you are a baseline type of player with long swings, this might be a racket that you’ll want to put in your tennis bag. with a 18*20 string pattern and a 96″ head size you can be sure you’ll get a lot of spin potential and a very controlled shots. For even more control and in order to balance the heavy racket weight, the Wilson Tour Pro BLX is a 7pt HL (Head Light).

Wilson Tour BLX – Review
by Wilson on Jun.23, 2011, under Advanced, Intermediate, Wilson BLX
Hey previously I talked a little about the NEW Wilson Tour BLX Tennis Racquet
, and wrote some review about it myself. The bottom line was: its a very nice blend of control per its head size and strings pattern, while offering relatively light weight for better swings and 1pt head heavy for some additional power on your strokes and serves. But lets see what other feedback we got from numerous players abput this piece:
- Denis Valenzuela : I haven’t tried a new racket for a while, as I still you the Babolat GT drive. At the beginning of my test I felt a little bothered, probably as you mentioned in your review, this 95 head size seems not be a lot smaller than my Babolat’s 100 head size, but it makes a real difference in your tennis play and how you need to be a bit more aware for not missing the sweet spot (its smaller on a95 head size like the blx tour) . After playing some days with it, things comes to senses and you start to get your strokes better accuracy. The funny thing was that I lost control over my backhand! I demoed this BLX just because Henin uses it and she has one of the best single hand back hand strokes in the universe! My backhands met the net in 60% of the time.I can blame it on the Wilson BLX Tour’s head size and the poli syntetic strings it comes in its demo version (guys, if its a demo version, put some decent power strings and lets as enjoy it!), I’m pretty sure that with my power bans strings it would have felt better…I have to say, that after having so much trouble with the backhand stroke, I had a joy, real joy with its amazing spin potential!!!( which could be much better with other strings). Bottom line: it will be a very good racket for a two hand backhand player, where power isn’t an issue, but for me, it was a little trouble.
- Damon Dunn: Ammmm I use a Babloat pure strom GT, my current rackets feels a little bit less control than I would expected, I can’t exactly explain it, but I felt that I’m losing or giving up power with the GT in order to get better control (As I tried to hammer some strokes, the ball went crazy with me…), it seemed as if I could never hit controlled deep shots .So I decided to test my friends rackets , head youtek p mp and the Wilson k blade 98 (was for sold a great price). The Head racket was good but I felt it heavy after just a couple of games (had to work it hard with its almost 12 oz.). The Wilson K blade 98 felt much better and about 80 bucks less. But if I’m here, I probably want to talk about the Tour blx! It gave me the best control out of the three and by far better than my Babolat. Iknow people will say how come and so on, but this candy gave me my best ever cross court strokes, really! The second best thing about it was in rallies when I just had to put the ball back deep, it was so easy!!! really surprised me! I found consistensy, very important issue for me, as I gain confidence with it. As for serving I’m not a spin guy, but when I tried to spin the serve it felt better than with the other rackets. I didn’t feel much improvement on my flat serves. Verdict: I would recommend any one who plays a 98 head to test this piece! a very power racket while feels good in your hand!
- Tal Gaviel : Must say that I’m currently using a very good racket, the Wilson k 6.1 and fairly pleased with it, but when I come to rank this racket, those are the differences I can advise you of: as for power on my baseline strokes I can’t see to much difference, but because of the more dense strings pattern (the wilson k 6.1 team is 16*18) I can say that there is much more spin and what we call pop on the shots. I can say that they feel the same for control even though the k 6.1 team is a smaller head size (95) but more open string pattern. That’s what made me decide that I love more a dense string pattern – I can’t say that I’m a Nadal spin type of player, on the other way, I’m a very “bad” spin player, that’s why I was surprised to see spin on my forehand, while playing with open string pattern like the k6.1 16*18 I got no spin at all!!! The spin occurs not only in the ground strokes, but also in the serve and that was a real surprise for me. After technically doing the top spin serve right, it brings a new weapon to your arsenal!!! After that demo I must say I like that racket a lot, the only thing that I can say bad about it is that I feel that my serve returns are a bit slower than before with my Wilson k6.1 team, but overall the Wilson tour Blx is a great improvement to my tennis style and versatility!!! ENJOY IT!!!
- Jan Konner : Hey you all, I must say first off all that I’m a fun Petra Kvitova the last wimbledon tournament (but this is just a coincidence ) and aperantlly also Devenport and Jelana Dokic before and they are using this racket now too. So there is something about it… A little about me – I’m 35 yrs old, I spend most of the day at work and with my family, U play tennis about 3-4 times a week. I used over size rackets most of my tennis “career” (Hammer 6), but lately I decided I want to get a new racket (just wanted to spoil myself). I tried about 6-8 rackets including the Wilson k 98 the DUNLOP Aerogel 4D 300 Tour and the HEAD Youtek IG Instinct S. I found the BLX Tour my favorite choice, why? I felt that it generates the best spin of this group. I found out that I love to get top spin short strokes and that is the best racket for that purpose in my opinion. I also strung it with LUXILON Big Banger Alu Power 127 Spin for greater effect. I get better accurate serves (no surprise as it isn’t a 117 head size). Two things to keep in mind: 1.If you upgrade it from an over sized racket, keep in mind that your new racket (in general – any racket) will have less power per its smaller head size. 2. It seems to me that the grip they supply with the racket is a bit thicker. But in general its a great racket to upgrade to!!!I love it!!!
Wilson Tour BLX
by Wilson on Jun.22, 2011, under Advanced, Intermediate, Wilson BLX
This time I want to tell you about the Wilson Tour BLX (not the Wilson Pro tour blx used by many men players ). For starters, this racket is the new and updated model to the Wilson k tour 95 (Or the nCode 95 before it Justin Henin’s racket – Henin is one of my favorite players – sometimes quality comes in small packages!).
The Wilson Tour BLX of course uses the newest Wilson technology BLX = Basalt fiber, tis one wilson claims will get you more feel and control with your swings and strokes.
I had a week to gig with that sweet thing and I’ll tell I really like it, even thought it was my first ever 95 square inch racket tested. Why I liked it? Justin likes it so I do too ,kidding `-). If you only look at this stick’s specs you’ll find a very nice and balanced racket:
you’ll get a lot of control out of the
- BLX great frame.
- Head size 95 sq. in. -not a pain in the ass like the six one 90 and not a big one like the 104″ Wilson Team BLX.
- A nice tight 16×20 string pattern for some extra control.
You’ll also get some more power, as this candy has
- Head heavy build 1 point, for more power on your strokes.
- Light weight, only 10.80 oz. (305 grams) for fast swings.
- Its a little longer than the usual 27.25in for a bit more leverage on your strokes- this is one of my favorite things about this Wilson Tour BLX, ots funny to thing, but the 1/4 inch makes me bend my legs less, which makes my strokes better and my rallies a little longer, as I have more stamina left in my guts.
This combination will get as a very good feel and control with some power.
So how I managed it? At the beginning it was a little funny, Why? if you never yet played a 95 head size racket (I currently use the Dunlop 300 tour 98 18*20), those 3 inches makes a big difference! For the first 2-3 games I kicked some balls to the skies like a first timmer… It was embarrassing as my wife and my 3 years kid watched it happens `-( but after some more games it felt much much better! I can say that I definitely and bigger accuracy rates and as I built my confidence with it, I got more power with my strokes. It felt a little stiff in my net game, but I’m not a net fun, I like it better banging from the baseline. I don’t know if it was because of its strings, but I thought it will be a bit more power hitter, maybe I had to test it a little more to see other results. I’ll never get it, why a 170$ racket, comes with so bad strings… An easy to maneuver racket with a relatively low strung weight. As for serves, this string pattern in combination to the 95 head size generates an adequate amount of spin, this part I really like as my first and second serves are spin based serves!
Thats it ! If you want to get this piece you could visit this link Wilson Tour BLX Tennis Racquet (amazon), Its a very reccomended racket for 3.5 players up to pro.
New review (07/08/2011) : Lila Bon – The Wilson Tour BLX is a very good racket if you are a player that loves to move all over the court and not just staying in the baseline defensive mode. As you mentioned in your K6.2 racket and that probably goes with every under 200$ rackets, it comes with a low quality strings and if you are used to one kind of strings, it will be very strange for you to play with those . When it comes to back line ground strokes I really like it, it lets me get the ball back deep and that’s a very good reason to get the Tour BLX alone! I feel that I can get more topspin in my shots, but is to blame my string choose: I play with the Dunlop DNA 17 for more power and durability (I like it) but less spin (I’d probably get a more even string for the next time…). As for the serves I like it but would need more power and think it could by better. Course courts strokes are good and deep and that is my favorite shot, so it’s a winner racket for me! Another good thing about it is been relatively lightweight, so I feel that I’m ready to hit the ball back any time!
A very good racket , the Wilson Tour Blx will be a great tool to continue your progress. Thanks Moshe for letting me write this quick one, I do want to write about the k6.1 (the racket I used before my shoulder surgery), but this will be one the next time. `-)

Wilson Pro Open BLX Tennis Racquet review
by Wilson on Jun.08, 2011, under Advanced, Intermediate, Wilson BLX
With its 100 square-inch headsize and just over 11-ounce weight, the Pro Open BLX is well suited to aggressive players who like to hit with pace and spin. It’s easy to whip this one through the contact zone allowing for easy depth, pace and spin. Short court balls and approach shots can be dispatched with authority with the Pro Open BLX. On serve the racquet is the perfect match for mixing both pace and spin. Our TW playtesters also found impressive consistency on serve, too. At net the racquet offers a crisp and clean feel allowing for confident targeting. The frame offers enough stiffness to help with power and stability, yet the feel at contact remains smooth and comfortable. All in all this is an impressive offering that will suit a variety of players for the intermediate level through to the professional ranks.

wilson k 98
by Wilson on Jan.24, 2011, under Intermediate, Wilson K Factor
The Wilson [k] Blade 98 Tennis Racquet is probably the most affordable pro racket on the market.
Some specifications:
- Head size: 98 square inches
- Length: 27 inches
- Weight: 11.3 ounces (strung)
- Stiffness: 60
- String pattern: 18 x 20
- Balance: 3 points, HL
- Cross section: 21 mm flat beam
- Grip: Wilson Kontrol Grip
- Grip sizes: 1 to 5
- Wilson Stiffness Index: 6
When you want to get some more control you usually will get a smaller racket head, thats where the k98 comes to action, with its 98 size head, it offers much better control. You’ll get more control with that racket also because of its 18*20 string pattern which reflects a bit less spin to the ball, but will let you more control. Not that only, but the strings gets more durable with the 18*20 patterns as they don’t move as free as with the more spaced patterns (16*18).
So why I love the Wilson [k] Blade 98:
Price! Only 129$ at amazon, but worth every buck!
Control! You get the K factor improved control plus the 98 head size and the dense strings pattern to get on of the best control rackets!
Accuracy! You get one of the best accurate rackets, ideal for back court players!
Here is what our readers think about the Wilson [k] Blade 98:
Stan: I love the K98, ny first under 100 head size racket. Why? thats easy: first of all its incredibly forgiving and comfortable for a player’s racket. The first thing I noticed about the Wilson k blade 98 was its amazing contorl and precise shots. The second thing is that somehow it gave me more powerful and flat serves than ever and actually was surprised of how much power I added to my serves since I first used this. As for my sliced serves it made wonders. Very recommended!!!
Jen : Hey wilson-rackets.com readers, thanks for the opportunity to write my personal opinion about this one (wilson k98). For starters, I must say that I’ve been playing for along time with the nCode 90 (Fedderer’s first Wilson racket I think), the nCode was a very controled racket, as you would expect from a 90inch head size ;-0, but it felt so heavy for me and I felt I couldn’t play with it long matches and got a but tired during long rallies. Then I read about the k blade 98 and gave it s try. I must say that I was suspicious at the beginning, cause after playing with small head sizes for a long time I was afraid that the kBlade 98 wouldn’t give me the control I was used to. I was very surprised to find out that it was a complete JOY!!! I get the ground strokes very good and its preatty easy to hit the ball for long shots. My regular opponent was amazed too, he was used to winning the long rallies, actually when he had to win a point , he new all he needs to do is to slow it down and stretch the point and he will eventually win it. Well no more!!! The best thing about it is (especially when you switch from a 95 or less racket to a 98-100 racket like the Blade 98 is that you get a lot of power that you weren’t used to, just get used to the fact that you can get more power, not to miss the back-line and you are into a new world of tennis!!! There is now a BLX version of that racket, but I’m so pleased with the kBlade, that I won’t take the chance , otherwise, I think I’ll get another backup Wilson k98 just in case.

wilson k factor six two
by Wilson on Jan.13, 2011, under Intermediate, Wilson K Factor

About the Wilson [K] Six.Two Tennis Racquet
The Wilson K Six Two 100 is the next generation of the nCode n6 and nSix Two and remains one of the most versatile choices in the K Factor line. With the KSix Two, Wilson has combined the power, stability, and crispness of K Factor technology with a slightly more versatile, and a surprisingly controlled 25mm beam. No longer head heavy (as with previous generation n6 and Hammer 6.2), the KSix Two is more maneuverable and feels slightly lighter than its 10.5 oz. strung weight suggests. The KSix Two suits a wide variety of playing styles and ability levels, as long as the player possesses a moderate to long swing. All [K] Factor rackets utilize Wilson’s proprietary next-generation [K]arophite Black structure which adds additional bonds between the SiO2 and graphite molecules on a nanoscopic scale, resulting in more feel and a stronger, more stable racket. Overall, there are 4 new key [K] Factor technology concepts found in various configurations depending on the [K] Factor model.
Here are some review we got from our users:
- I got this racket as a gift (from my wonderful wife!!!) after playing with the kSurge for a couple of months. So far I love it.I can say that it has more power than I thought it will have, something about its head heavy feel lets me swing it better than with my previous Wilson racket. I would recommend stringing it with other strings as they feel a little clumsy for me.I love the Luxilon as they offer some more spin, but you can choose your favorite. Over all I can say that it a great racket for the price you pay for (under 90$!!!).
- Mark: I’ve playing with over sized rackets for some time, and never got the idea about the fact that smaller sized rackets offer better control/ One day my tennis partner got the Wilson nCode nTour Two 95 and as we played he told me about those new “feelings”, then we switched rackets. At the beggining it felt strange as I missed the ball some times, but after getiing the idea i found my shots more acurate than ever. I must say that I bought the k 6.2 as a thoght that it will be better for me not to jump into smaller head sizes, this was a great decission! The k 6.2 is easier to swing so I don’t loose to much power and still have much more control rather than the OS racket I used before. If you think to improve your game, the Wilson [K] Six.Two Tennis Racquet Is probably one of the best affordable rackets on the market!
- Dani:I love the k6.2. I play a lot at the net and this one is a real joy there! Swinging as never been so fast and easy! The fast swing also helps better serving. Please be aware that it swings better than begginer rackets, so if you are apgrading it from some other racket , it will take some time to sync.

wilson k six two review
by Wilson on Jan.11, 2011, under Advanced, Intermediate, Wilson K Factor
The Wilson [K] Six.Two Tennis Racquet is one of the most versatile and affordable all around racket that Wilson can still offer. The K six.two is the replacement for the 6.1 know by the name : the skunk (given him for the black&white colors) .
Here are some of the k six.2 specs:
- Si: 5/6 (medium or fast)
- Head size: 100 square inches
- Length: 27 inches
- Weight: 10.0 ounces (unstrung), 10.6 ounces (strung)
- Balance: 5 points HL (unstrung), 2 points HL (strung)
- Grip size: 4 to 4-5/8
- Cross section: 25.0 mm
- Rec. string: [K] Gut
- Rec. grip: [K]ontrol
- Stringing recommendations: 16 x 19 pattern, 53- to 63-pound tension
What we think about it?
I love it! I played with it for almost two years and liked it much better that the head that I first started playing with. Its a bit head light so its really to maneuver which lets you swing pretty fast and to be ready to each stroke and quick at the net. At a very popular 100 head size you’ll get some good power too! That’s why I like the k 6.2 so much, its the perfect frame for the intermediate player ready to improve!
What else I like about it?
- Its a deadly combo racket for baseline and net game.
- Will improve your game.
- If you are a beginner and using an OS racket for now, the K6.2 will be your first choice , when going to a more pro racket smaller than the 110+- and bigger that the 90, so this popular head size will still give you power while not loosing much in control.
Bottom line : If you want to upgrade your beginner OS racket to something more pro and on a budget, the Wilson [K] Six.Two will be your first choice, I like it!!!

Wilson Six.One Tour BLX Tennis Racquet
Well as my all already know the BLX SIx.One is played for some years by the number 1 Rogger F. If there is something so good and trustable for no mistakes, that Rogger wants it, it has to be great!!! So lets dig in and see what we thing about it!!!
The Wilson Six.One 90 BLX Specifications:
- Headsize:90 sq. in.
- Length:27.00 in.
- Weight (strung):12.50 oz.
- Stiffness (BabolatRDC):65
- Balance:12.40 in. Head Light
- Cross Section:17mm Flat Beam
- Swingweight:324 kg*sq. cm
- String Pattern:16×19
- Grip:Wilson Leather
- Wilson Stiffness Index:6.1
So what we and our reads think about the Wilson Six.one BLX?
For starters, how can you say “bad” things about a racket that the all time best players is playing with? The Wilson Six.One BLX 90 is the replacement for the Wilson K Factor KSixOne Tour 90 . Wilson got the new tech called BLX that uses Basalat fibers to improve the feel and feedback from the frame, just like the ProStuff rackets as nSixOne Tour 90, Hyper Pro Staff Tour 90 and Pro Staff Kevlar 85.
What did tell as players that used the Wilson Six.One 90 BLX ? There answers are great!
- Goran:Great ground strokes, killing voleys and accuracy with your serves, that what you get when buying that racket! I improved my single handed backhand amazingly during just the few weeks after getting that racket!!! Very good FEEL, as they sayat Wilson.
- Dan:When I thought buyin the Wilson Six1 BLX, people told me that the head is a little to small for me and I’ll feel it a little heavy at the head. But I think that all I have to do, id to put the racket at the right spot when swinging to the ball, and I get the best strokes, much better than I got with other rackets used before (Dan used the Wilson nCode nTour 95 Before).
- Very good frame. It took me some time to get used to the small head at the net, but as you get used to it, you couldn’t imagine how you played with other rackets before!!!
- Tried before the Prince Ignite team 95 and a Balbolat APD, but felt those didn’t suited my style. When I trieed the BLX six1 and also find it a bit strange at swinging and maneuverabillity. When tring Federrer’s model it was imediate WOW, it was sometinhg like the old fashion K-Blade 93 that I used about 7 years ago, but a little more massive and with much more power. Many told me that this frame is a bit demanding one, but I didn’t felt that way at all! I think that this racket is the best combination a played for a lonng time (if ever!!!).
You can get it from Amazon.com via the links below.

Swing Weight: 320
Wilson Stiffness Index:5.

What we think about the Wilson nTour 95 Two?
The nTour 95 Two will be a very good mid level racket!!! and will offer even better value for its price! Well balanced (see specs, a little head heavy) and very light weight. The Wilson nCode nTour Two 95 will be a perfect racket for players that wants to move to a bit more professional racket, but please be aware that moving from a big head racket (100 +) to a 95 headsize might take some time to get used to. Over all, the Wilson nCode nTour Two 95 is a great balanced racket for intermediate to advanced tennis players.
